Valvemax Services was formed to perform ongoing water system maintenance so that water boards and councils can focus on time critical emergency work.
Valvemax offers valve exercising and maintenance programs, valve location, valve box vacuuming, and other preventative maintenance services. Most services offered by Valvemax involve exercising the valve. Locating, assessing, inspecting, report and analysis are all recent add-ons to the Valvemax service.
Valve maintenance can include:
- Identifying and numbering the valves in the system
- Clean out the valve boxes
- Exercise the valves
- Identify problem valves
- Collect information on the valves (including GPS)
- Construct a map of the system
Challenges with maintenance
It’s not uncommon for valves to rest idle for many years, even decades between operation. The valve which has stood un-maintained in that period is very likely to have suffered corrosion. The act of operating that valve will inevitably lead to component failure.
This being the case, a program of periodic maintenance should be established to ensure such valves are in good working order.
With so many valves under the maintenance guidance of a limited number of staff, identifying those valves to be prioritised for valve exercising should be done based on risk. i.e. which valves present the greatest risk in the event of failure.
Levels Explained
At Valvemax, we work with you to determine the needs of your network. From your initial consultation and evaluation (Level 1) through to a layered full approach to full service (Level 4). Our levels of service will depend on the needs of your network, number of valves that require exercising and maintenance and we can then provide you with an estimate for the level of work, timeframe, and cost. With our layered approach full service is completed (Level 4) after first engaging Level 1 and 2 exercising and maintenance. Level 4 leaves your network with 100% coverage and full working order of all locatable and accessible valves. Additional work may be required if valves are in a state of disrepair or malfunction.
The majority of Valvemax services involve exercising the valve.
